Brew Espresso
Follow these simple steps to brew a perfect espresso at home.

What You'll Need
• Espresso machine
• Fresh Millennium beans
• A tamper
• Espresso cup

Step 1
Choose Your Beans
All our beans are fresh and high quality, so the choice is yours! For a strong Espresso, why not try our Dark Roast or our Brazilian Single Origin for something a bit lighter

Step 2
Grind Your Beans
Grind your coffee beans just before brewing. For Espresso, we recommend using a fine grind size, similar to table salt

Step 3
Preheat Your Equipment
Preheat your espresso machine, portafilter (you can do this by running a short burst of water through your portafilter, this will also flush out any old coffee grounds) and cup to ensure stable brewing temperature

Step 4
Dose & Tamp
Measure the appropriate amount of coffee grounds (usually around 18-20 grams for a double shot) and place them into the portafilter. Tamp the grounds evenly and firmly using a tamper

Step 5
Extract Your Espresso
Start the extraction process. Aim for a brewing time of around 25-30 seconds, during which you should extract around 30-60ml of espresso (30ml being a single shot, 60ml being a double shot)

Step 6
Serve Immediately
Serve the espresso immediately after brewing to enjoy it at its freshest and most flavourful.
Barista's Top Tips
• Watch the espresso as it brews. It should have a thick, golden crema on top and flow evenly from the spout.
• If the extraction is too fast or too slow, adjust the grind size accordingly to achieve the desired extraction time.
• Taste your espresso and adjust variables such as grind size, dose, and extraction time to fine-tune the flavour to your liking.
